Postcards are in the mail!

Alright! So postcards have been sent out!. For everyone who doesn't know everyone and everything on the card, here's a cheat sheet I made up that lets you know a little bit about the items and people that may not be as familiar as the rest.

1. Queen Elizabeth: Queen of England.

2. Velociraptor: 8 foot man-eating dinosaur from the movie Jurassic Park.

3 L. Ron Hubbard: Founder of Scientology.

4. Zombie Head: Decapitated

5. Pauly Shore: Film-Actor from the 90's (Bio-Dome). Most people love him or hate him.

6. Michael Steele: Head of the Republican National Party since Obama became President.

7. Calista Flockhart: Actress from the 90's. Best known for her work on Ally McBeal.

8. A Chainsaw: Can be placed on Santa's arm so he can have a chainsaw arm.

9. Knobkierrie: An African club, which in times of peace are used as walking sticks.

10. Chest Plate: Roman

11. Big Blueberries: Delicious

12. Faberge Egg: Elaborate jewel-encrusted eggs made for the Russian Tsars.

13. Cats: A useless amount.

14. Statue of Shiva: The Hindu god of creation and destruction whose dance represents chaos.

15. Justine: A novel written by Marquis De Sade.

16. Coca-Cola: Taken from a Christmas Santa ad from the 50's.

17. Lotus Shoes: Chinese shoes for foot binding, a phased out practice for women.

18. Cecropia Moth Wings: North America's largest native moth.

19. Zoloft: A commonly prescribed antidepressant.

20. Oil Lamp: An oil lamp similar to the magic lamp from Arabian Nights.

Christmas Card 2011

Alright everyone!. I haven't been very attentive to my blog the last couple months unfortunately. However, that doesn't mean I haven't been working. More about that will be posted soon, but for now, this year's Christmas card has been finished and I'm now collecting addresses from anyone who would like to receive one of my editioned postcards this year! Here it is!

This year's postcard is a paper doll of santa with many accessories so Santa can be whatever you want him to be this year! Send me your addresses to oz@azizozlalani.com. I'll send you a confirmation email when I get it. Then check your mailboxes around Christmas time for the card!

The events of recent...

So as of recent, I've been bouncing around between jobs and not taking the time to write on the blog. The piece that was featured on the blog The Feast ended up selling! The show in general was a success and we sold a lot of my friends work. It's pretty rewarding being able to help your friends pay off their car payments and rent.

So beyond the gallery work, I've teamed up with a friend of mine, Loni Deip, and we are collaborating on some new work. A lot the materials we are using is what is available to us and cost effective. I will be dumpsterdiving for more materials soon to create some larger pieces. Most of our collaboration so far has been combining different techniques and materials. We've been playing around with wax, string, and latex mostly. Check out the pictures below.
